Digital-First Banking: How a Leading Central African Financial Institution Outcreated the Customer Journey

A leading financial services provider in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) sought to scale its five-year digital-first strategy. Legacy technology resulted in fragmented sales and service tools, spreadsheet-driven reporting, limited customer visibility. This constrained relationship managers and hindered proactive, personalized engagement. LTM created a unified customer engagement ecosystem by integrating Oracle Fusion Sales and Service with Microsoft Azure Data Lake through Oracle Integration Cloud. Banking-specific workflows, predictive intelligence, role-based experiences, and automated marketing orchestration established a connected foundation for faster decision-making, greater efficiency, and personalized customer experiences.

New Roads to Value

LTM transformed the bank's customer engagement model from fragmented and reactive processes into a connected, digital-first experience. By integrating front-office sales and service capabilities with enterprise customer data, LTM created a unified view of customer interactions across the banking journey.

The solution combined real-time data access, banking-specific workflows, predictive insights, and personalized marketing orchestration to help relationship managers move beyond transactional service toward more informed and proactive customer engagement.

Our Client

The client is one of the most prominent financial services providers and commercial banks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) region. Operating a massive network of over 100 branches, they serve a diverse market by blending specifically adapted financial products with a commitment to deploying the latest consumer technologies.

Their mission focuses on community empowerment, aiming to provide secure, accessible, and personalized banking services that foster local trust. By balancing traditional regional presence with a modern digital outlook, they maintain a dominant position in an increasingly competitive financial landscape.

Industry Trends

The banking sector in EMEA is undergoing a rapid, non-negotiable shift toward digital-first services driving a digital transformation in banking. As mobile connectivity expands, customer expectations have evolved; clients no longer just compare banks with other banks, they compare them with the seamless experiences provided by global tech giants.

To remain competitive, financial institutions must move beyond transactional banking. The pressure to provide real-time, context-aware service is high, yet many regional leaders remain tethered to legacy infrastructures that cannot support the agility required for modern fintech innovation or predictive customer engagement.

Challenges

The bank’s five-year strategy was centered on a digital-first identity, but their technical reality was one of fragmentation and manual workarounds. This disconnect created significant "human costs," where relationship managers spent more time navigating spreadsheets than engaging with clients.

  • Data Silos: Sales and service teams utilized disconnected tools, preventing a unified view of the customer journey.
  • Operational Latency: A heavy reliance on manual spreadsheets for reporting and service request resolution slowed down internal response times.
  • Reactive Engagement: Lack of real-time insights meant teams only interacted with customers after a problem occurred, rather than anticipating needs.
  • Scalability Barriers: Existing legacy systems lacked the elasticity to support the bank’s ambitious digital transformation goals or integrate with emerging AI capabilities.

LTM Solution

LTM helped the client move from a simple "lift-and-shift" mindset. Instead, we architected a unified, intelligent engagement layer that bridged the gap between the front office and core banking operations. Key aspects of the solution included:

  • Unified CX Ecosystem: We integrated the core banking system with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), creating a bidirectional data flow between Oracle Fusion Sales and Service and the Microsoft Azure Data Lake. This eliminated the "context switching" that previously plagued employees, providing a true 360-degree view of customer data in a single interface.
  • Banking-Specific Workflows: General tools weren't enough. We configured tailored service request workflows specifically for banking operations, including customer onboarding, loan servicing, and card support. Using Visual Builder Cloud Service (VBCS) and Custom VBCS pages, we built a UI that felt intuitive and role specific.
  • Embedded Intelligence: Rather than treating AI as a bolt-on feature, we embedded predictive analytics directly into the workflow. We leveraged Adaptive Search and Oracle Redwood UI to ensure relationship managers could surface next-best actions and identify customer intent in real time.
  • Marketing Orchestration: To complete the loop, Oracle Eloqua was deployed to automate marketing campaigns, ensuring that customer outreach was personalized and based on actual behavioral data rather than broad segments.

Business Benefits

The digital transformation from fragmented spreadsheets to an integrated Oracle Cloud platform delivered immediate, measurable improvements in both operational speed and customer sentiment:

  • Accelerated Decision-Making: Relationship managers no longer wait for manual reports; real-time dashboards allow for informed decisions "in the moment”.
  • Enhanced Security & Governance: Role-based accessibility ensured sensitive financial data remained compliant with regulatory standards while remaining accessible to authorized personnel.
  • Process Standardization: By configuring banking‑specific service request categories (such as onboarding, loan services, and card support), Rawbank streamlined 50+ daily banking operations, standardized workflows replaced fragmented processes, improving turnaround time, reducing effort for frontline teams, and increasing overall operational efficiency.

Conclusion

By moving to a connected, cloud-native architecture, the bank has done more than merely upgrade its software; it has built a resilient foundation for long-term innovation through their digital transformation. They are no longer just reacting to the market, they are Outcreating the competition by turning every customer interaction into a trust-building experience.

Leadership Quote:

Our Oracle-powered solution helped the client unlock agility, intelligence, and scalability, setting a new benchmark for banking innovation in the region."
