Reimagining Regulatory Reporting for One of the World's Largest Banking and Financial Services Organizations

Our Client

The client intended to Re-architect and migrate Desktop based CLIC Application ,Trade enquiry module to Google Cloud as part of their Cloud strategy 2027 and greenfield Implementation of 20+ Regulatory (SEBI,RBI,NSDL) reports(Daily, Monthly, Qtrly, Annually).

Challenges

• End of support and high licensing cost for Oracle.
• No direct access to on-prem DB from cloud applications due to the client's legacy architecture.
• Due to monolithic on-premises DB, which has limitations to transfer large data sets  to  cloud application
• The current system lacks adequate authentication and authorization measures.
• Gaining approval for the off-the-shelf CDC product from the client’s cyber security team was a lengthy process, coupled with license cost
• Incorrect emails with inappropriate attachments have been sent to business users, leading to the exposure of one user's data to others.

Solution

• Developed an API-driven architecture featuring a containerized database that employs the SAGA pattern.
• Integrated authentication and authorization for applications through Azure AD, facilitating user onboarding to AD groups within SNOW.
• Designed a versatile on-premise wrapper service to manage queries, retrieve data from the DB.
• Introduced rate limiting, asynchronous calls, and paginated queries to enhance memory efficiency and prevent database downtime.
• Created a bespoke CDC product for synchronizing data from Oracle to PostgreSQL via the wrapper service, aimed at generating reports.
• Implemented a tailored scheduling solution equipped with an audit dashboard for data synchronization, regulatory reporting, and email, utilizing GCP's Cloud Scheduler and Pub/Sub.
• Established an on-premise SMTP service complete with an audit dashboard for sending emails to stakeholders based on predefined business rules and hashing values.
