Client Overview

The client is a publicly traded Fortune 500 energy company based in the United States, with multiple regulated subsidiaries providing retail electricity, natural gas, and water services to approximately 4 million customers. Despite its vast customer base, the company struggled with outdated legacy systems that hindered its operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Challenges

The client faced significant challenges with their legacy systems:

  • Outdated Integrations:  The client’s infrastructure relied on around 800 Point-to-Point (P2P) integrations that were outdated, insecure, non-scalable, and no longer supported by vendors, creating critical vulnerabilities and inefficiencies.
  • Lack of Unified Governance:  The absence of unified governance and standardized integration practices led to minimal end-to-end operational visibility, making it difficult to manage and optimize processes across the enterprise.
  • Operational Inefficiencies:  The outdated system architecture resulted in a lack of component reusability, higher Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), extended time-to-market for new services, lower visibility into business transactions, degraded customer experiences, and frequent operational instability.

LTM Solution

To address these challenges, LTM provided a comprehensive and innovative solution:

  • Assessment and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) Development: LTM assessed client’s requirements, developed MVPs to evaluate potential solutions. Based on an in-depth analysis, we recommended the MuleSoft Integration platform. 
  • Platform Installation and Deployment: We successfully installed the MuleSoft Integration platform on OpenShift, ensuring seamless functionality both on-premises and in the cloud, providing the client with a hybrid, scalable integration environment.
  • Establishing a Cross-functional Center for Enablement (C4E): LTM established a C4E team, which played a crucial role in defining the platform and security architecture for the enterprise integration, setting the foundation for standardized, efficient operations.
  • Foundational Setup and Pilot Integration: We executed the foundational setup and transitioned a pilot integration onto the newly established platform, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solution and preparing the client for broader implementation.
  • Ongoing Support and Optimization: LTM provided continuous support for the MuleSoft Integration platform and its associated APIs, ensuring smooth operation and allowing for ongoing optimization and scaling of the integration environment.
